Have you ever dreamed of owning an expensive car? Just like Michael Mejía, who was gifted a tuned Lamborghini Urus. On that day, the young American felt like the luckiest man in the world… but things changed for him after just a few months.

First, let’s clarify that this isn’t just any ordinary Urus. The supercar belonged to the singer Shakira, who used it in the music video for the song “Soletra.” She bought the car on the same day she officially announced her divorce from former footballer Gerard Piqué. She chose a combination with a purple exterior and an interior in shades of white and pistachio. After using the Urus in the video, she decided to gift the expensive Lamborghini to one of her fans as a token of gratitude for the support she received during a difficult time in her life. And that’s how Michael Mejía became the lucky recipient, receiving the car keys last year.
However, as we now know, his joy was short-lived. The designer, originally from Colombia, soon realized what it actually means to own a Urus. On top of that, Michael revealed that Shakira also gave him $90,000 in cash to cover the initial costs. But when he tallied up all the expenses, the total came to $95,000! Michael admitted that he had no idea the monthly insurance for the Urus would cost $2,000. He was also shocked by the fuel consumption: “I emptied the tank in less than four days. I spent $70 on fuel at the gas station,” Mejía said.
It’s unclear whether Michael is allowed to sell the Urus and get rid of the problem, or if he agreed upon receiving the gift to keep the car for a certain period of time. In any case, he says he has already received offers for the Lamborghini, with buyers willing to pay $700,000 to $800,000 for the car that once belonged to Shakira. However, he noted that his girlfriend advised him to hold out for a $2 million offer!
